Hi, I'm Scott.
I've been slinging code professionally since before the term "full stack developer" has existed. I love to tinker, I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, and I get genuinely excited about learning something new.
This blog is where I share what I figure out — so you can learn from my mistakes.
"Adversity does not build character. It reveals it."
The Developer
- Full stack, front to back, longer than the label has existed
- Chronic tinkerer — if it can be taken apart, I'm taking it apart
- Strong believer in sharing knowledge and paying it forward
Off the Clock
- Avid golfer (emphasis on avid, not necessarily good)
- Proud NY Giants fan — I bleed blue
- When I was about 10, I was the King of the circus
Before I wrote code, I saved lives
I spent 14 years working as a paramedic before I made the leap into software development. It was a career change that surprised a lot of people — but not me.
The skills that make a great paramedic — staying calm under pressure, thinking systematically, communicating clearly, and caring about outcomes — are the same skills that make a great developer. The problems just involve fewer bodily fluids.
